The actual construction of the two units will be started 18 months from registering the managing company, probably in 2010, according to representatives of Nuclearelectrica, who added that six more years will have to pass before the reactors are started.

"We hope to finalize the two units in 2016. But, if things do not go according to plan, the project could also be delayed until 2017," they said.
CEZ Romania, another investor in the construction of the two units, alsoanticipates reactors 3 and 4 in Cernavoda could be delivered in 2016.

"The managing company will finish the feasibility study in 2010 and will immediately start the actual construction process," declared for NewsIn the corporate affairs director of CEZ Romania, Adrian Borotea.

The state-owned electricity producer Nuclearelectrica inked a deal on November 20 2008 with six investors,  ArcelorMittal, CEZ, GdF-Suez, Enel, Iberdrola and RWE Power, to form the SC EnergoNuclear SA company managing the construction of the 3 and 4 reactors at the country's sole nuclear power station.

Nuclearelectrica, which is in charge of supervising the plant, will hold 51 percent of the project, four of the companies will have a participation of 9.15 percent and two companies a 6.2 percent stake each.

The additional 3 and 4 Cernavoda reactors will have an installed power of 720MW. The life span of a reactor is 30 years with the possibility of extension to 40 years. The 3 and 4 Cernavoda units will use Candu 6 technology.
