The investments will comprise 14 towns from the central county of Brasov.
According to the ministry, over 511,000 inhabitants will benefit from clean and used water services at European standards, once the project is finished.
Romania has so far 11 major environment projects for which the EC committed to allot 1.1 billion euros.
The total environment funds for 2007-2013 stand at 5.6 billion euros, 4.5 billion of which come from the European Union and 1.1 billion from the Romanian state.
The EU budget allotted over 3.2 billion euros for Romania's water and sewage projects, 1,17 billion euros for waste management, about 459 million euros for revamping thermal power plants, 215 million euros for Natura 2000 natural parks and architectural sites, 329 million euros for preventing floods and rehabilitating the coastline and 174 million euros for technical assistance.
