Railway cargo transporter CFR Marfa sends 40% of its staff in technical unemployment starting July 1
Romania’s state-run freight railway transport CFR Marfa will send by turns some 40 percent of its personnel in technical unemployment for three months starting tomorrow, according to the company's general manager, Calin Gratian.
The employees will receive 75 percent of the salary plus the length in service bonus.
This measure was discussed during the company's shareholder meeting which took place last week, according to an official.
CFR unions and the company's board settled two weeks ago to remove working hours at night and during weekends, but did not agree to reduce activity by 40 percent.
As many as 1,420 retirement applications were handed in at CFR Marfa, which account for 3.7 percent of the salary fund.
CFR Marfa currently has a headcount of 17,500.
