Fire at Sfanta Maria hospital in Bucharest put out, no victims reported
A strong fire burst today at the Sfanta Maria hospital in Bucharest currently under revamp works, but the firefighters managed to put out the flames and nobody was hurt, announced the local emergency situation institute (ISU).
Around 290 persons on two floors of the hospital were evacuated, out of which 150 patients and 140 employees.
Some 12 firefighting vehicles intervened to stop the fire and the authorities are now looking into the causes that might have triggered it.
Road traffic in the area was deflected, according to the Bucharest police spokesman, Christian Ciocan.
