Social-democrats and liberals shake hands to assure long-term political stability, leaders say
The head of the Social-Democrat Party (PSD), Mircea Geoana, said after inking the political agreement with the National Liberal Party (PNL), that this is meant to assure long-term political stability and it does not represent a division of positions between the two parties.
The social-democrat leader mentioned the accord represents an important step to assure political stability in Romania and that he strongly believes \"the mature political forces\" will contribute at the set up of a government led by Klaus Johannis as prime-minister.
The president of the liberals, Crin Antonescu, said he inked the agreement convinced that it is a healthy gesture for the country and that is not only meant to support a candidate for the second round of the presidential elections.
Antonescu said his support for Geoana is precise and stable, and that it will turn to all shapes during the campaign for the second round of the elections, as it is \"a national interest\" for Romania to have another president.
