Romania`s national currency inches slightly, to a reference exchange rate of 4.2618 lei for euro
The reference exchange rate established by the central lender BNR dropped 0.13 percent to 4.2618 lei per euro, as the national currency lost ground versus the euro during the first part of the session.
The central bank reported an exchange rate of 4.2673 lei per euro yesterday.
The euro stood at 4.2575 – 4.2625 lei this morning and then waved near 4.26 – 4.2650 lei.
In the region, the zloty plummeted from 4.1360 to 4.1537 over the single European currency, while the forint slipped from 270 to 270.70 per euro.
For the U.S. dollar, BNR's exchange rate lowered 0.81 percent to 2.9009 lei per dollar, from 2.9247 in the previous session.
On international markets, the American dollar eased from 1.47 and 1.4680 per euro and at 1:45 p.m. Romania’s hour, the euro was traded for 1.4676 dollars.
Interbank interests for overnight deposits stood slightly below the key interest rate of 8.50 percent a year, on a higher liquidity.
