Romania`s Economy Ministry to send home 2,030 employees by year-end
The Economy Ministry (ME) will fire 2,030 people from 13 companies under its authority this year, according to a government decision published in the Official Gazette on Monday.
Most of the dismissals will be completed at the National Company of Lignite Oltenia (SNLO), where 600 out of 9,000 employees will lose their jobs, but also at the Romanian Authority for Nuclear Activities (RAAN) and at the thermal power company Termoelectrica, where 306 and respectively 200 people will be sent home.
The power complexes Turceni and Craiova will fire each 150 employees and Electrocentrale Bucuresti another 100, next to the power complex Rovinari (75 employees), Electrocentrale Deva (70) and Electrocentrale Galati (60).
All the fired employees will benefit from the stipulations in the emergency ordinance regarding social protection for those dismissed following collective lay-offs.
