Romania will be represented by four teams in UEFA Europa League
The four Romanian football teams FC Timisoara, CFR Cluj, Steaua Bucuresti and Dinamo Bucuresti managed to qualify in the groups of the first edition of Europa League, after several tough matches, while FC Vaslui missed the qualification.
FC Timisoara entered directly the groups of Europa League after removing Ukraine's Sahtior Donetk in the Champions League play-off (2-2 away, 0-0 home), but then lost against Germany's VfB Stuttgart.
Therefore, FC Timisoara will encounter Ajax Amsterdam, Anderlecht and Dinamo Zagreb within the Group A of Europa League, according to the draw.
CFR Cluj will meet PSV Eindhoven, FC Copenhagen and Sparta Prague within the Group K, while Steaua Bucuresti will run into Fenerbahce Istanbul, FC Twente and Sheriff Tiraspol within Group H.
The draw also decided Dinamo to play with Panathinaikos Athens, Galatasaray Istanbul and Sturm Graz within Group F.
Dinamo succeeded to move on to Europa League's groups after a spectacular match against Slovan Liberec yesterday. Although Dinamo lost against the Czech team score 3-0 at the green table after some Romanian supporters raid into the field during the game, the team managed to score three goals and pushed the match in extra time, only to win 9-8 in penalties.
On the other side, FC Vaslui missed the groups of Europa League after being defeated by AEK Athens away score 3-0. The Romanian team won the match home score 2-1.
