The number of people infected with the A/H1N1 virus reached 441 in Romania, of which a schoolmistress in Bucharest and the baritone Gheorghe Mogosan from Cluj show a hard condition and currently are on oxygen, said the government secretary of the Health Ministry, Adrian Streinu Cercel.

The 31-year old teacher from School no. 147 in Bucharest is being kept since Monday at the Matei Bals hospital at the intensive care unit (ICU) but reported a mild improvement, according to Cercel. However, Mogosan's case is more complicated.

Also, the official mentioned another 24 people are suspected of swine flu, of which 21 children. Their analysis will show in a couple of days whether or not they caught the virus.

In Romania, the death rate for swine flu currently stands at 0.01 percent, but can increase to maximum 2.5 percent, according to the estimates of the Health Ministry.

The Health Ministry plans to vaccinate three million institutionalized children within a campaign against swine flu to begin on December 1.

The first swine flu contamination in Romania occurred on May 23, on a young woman who had returned from the United States.
