Number of jobs available in Romania by August 27 ups to 9,450, the national labor force agency says
The number of vacant work positions offered by the companies in Romania until August 27 inched 1.4 percent over the previous week and reached to 9,450, data from the national labor force agency (ANOFM) show.
Most vacancies between August 20 and 27 are in Bucharest (900), the central county of Cluj (818) and the southern county of Prahova (566). The lowest numbers of available jobs were reported in the counties of Valcea (14) and Ilfov (16).
Graduates can choose from 391 jobs, while undergraduates from 9.059 work positions.
The number of unemployed in Romania increased by 23,632 in July to 572,562, a new maximum of the past 5 years and one month, exceeding by far the initial estimate of the Labor Ministry regarding the jobless count at year-end.
The unemployment rate rose to 6.3 percent in July from 6 percent in June, when some 548,930 jobless persons were recorded.
Labor Minister Marian Sarbu declared at the beginning of June the unemployment rate could reach 8 percent by year-end, which would translate into a number of 720,000 people without a job, in a very pessimistic scenario.
