Bucharest mayor Sorin Oprescu to run for Romania`s president seat as independent
Bucharest general mayor Sorin Oprescu decided to candidate for the country's helm as independent, having no obligation for any party, and said he will work with all politicians as Romania needs a president to consolidate.
Oprescu's campaign will be coordinated by Octav Cozmanca and the former social-democrat deputy Alin Teodorescu.
President Traian Basescu announced two days ago he will candidate for another mandate at the country's helm.
The leader of the Social-Democrat Party (PSD), Mircea Geoana, will also run for the president seat, next to the liberal Crin Antonescu and football tycoon Gigi Becali.
