Air traffic services administration slashes staff by 200 until the end of the year, to cut costs
The Romanian air traffic services administration Romatsa will cut headcount from 1,800 to 1,600 by the end of the year following pressures from air transporters to trim costs in order to raise incomes, general director Bogdan Donciu said.
Company revenues stood at 140 million euros last year and estimates for this year point to a similar level. However, commercial traffic will reduce by 6-8 percent this year, an effect of the economic crisis, Donciu said.
Earlier today the transportation minister Radu Berceanu required Romatsa to carefully monitor spending and make sure it does not overspend.
“The company needs restrictions over expenses with traveling,” Berceanu said.
The economic crisis affected businesses in air transportation too, with the slump in global demand which hit economies worldwide.
